    "Subscribe to this forum" *Solved*

If I am clicking on the link, subscribe to this forum. Shouldn't I get mail notifications of all the posts in that forum like if I am subscribet to a thread? Or did I not understand something here. I have subscribet to the game section, but there is a lot of new thread that I never get mail notfication about.

Well i only get email notifications when you make a thread, or reply to one. Then once you have done that, i am automatically subscribed to that thread.

Subscribe to forum and subscribe to thread work differently (obviously, as you already found out).

The reason? Take a forum like VB Questions. On a good day, how often are post made there? 5 per minute? More? Less? Now lets say 200 users have this forum subscribed to.

That's 1,000 emails the server has to send per minute. 60,000 emails in an hour.

That's a HUGE strain on resources and would probably give us many, many more ads to pay for it.

I just found a solution. I found a plugin for FireFox. It can check if it has been changes in a site. So now I have added a bookmark to the game section, so every time anyone is posting a new thread, or a new post in that section I get a notification right away......I am soo happy, and getting lazier and lazier all the time..

I also have a plug in that can refresh the site for me every 5, 10, 30 and so on second, so if I am waithing for a reply, then I can just let it run untill it is there...don't have to press F5 again...
