Re: Need for Speed: Carbon
I've played the game last night and it is really great but ate a BIG amount of harddisk space. Almost 6GB.
I'm wondering what happened to Cross (from NFS: Most Wanted), he was addressed "Cross" and not "Sgt. Cross".

I don't have internet connection in our house yet and if I dowload it in the office; it slows my browsing.
I don't really intend to buy this game, I'm looking for a new cellphone (a phone w/ camera and USB cable for Php3,000.00 or aournd $50, maybe what I'm looking for is a Motorola C651). Mine is Collector's Edition, how 'bout yours?

Re: Need for Speed: Carbon
I rented it for the 360.
its pretty good.. having team mates is different...
the customization is much more detailed now.. (Body sculpting is available if u have the right guy working for you)
online modes are much better
overall.. id say its worth the $$. The driving area is large.. the graphics are good.. id give it an 8 out of 10 (has occasional frame drops)
JPnyc rocks!! (Just ask him!)

Re: Need for Speed: Carbon
kinda.. yeah. its all about the "tuner" scene now.. with import tuner "gangs" & Muscle car gangs, and exotic car gangs...You have to win races and take control of areas of the map. The music is a good mix.. some rap.. but also a good amount of alternative / metal thrown in. (I always just turn music off anyway.. I like to hear the car)
depending on the type of car u pick is what kind of cars the game presents to u later.
the only thing that sucks is the drifting.. it felt like driving on ice. takes a bit to get into the "groove" while doing it.

Re: Need for Speed: Carbon
Is there even such a thing as an "exotic car gang"? The idea of a bunch of people having over 200K to drop on a car and nothing better to do than street race seems a bit absurd.
From what I've seen though, it looks better than the NFS Underground ones. They should have called those NFS: Ricer.

music with words don't belong in racing games - or any games for that matter.

Agreed!
Although "Think about it, sweet 16, you could be anywhere, see yourself standing there" could be considered words right?

In GT there are dozens of music tracks (in various styles), and you can select which ones are played.

Hey guys, I defeated 3 territories' boss but I can't win any drift race.
What should I consider for a drift car?

I got the PS2 version over the weekend and the graphics are *very* tasty!!! The character videos are great too, to the extent I still haven't decided if they're real film or CG. And that has impressed me!!

???
u can drift with any car.. it just takes practice. u have to get the car in the "groove" so when u are taking a nice long corner, u are almost sideways. trick is to not keep the throttle full on.. gun it to break loose, then back off about 1/4 of the way... then steer slightly.. just tweaks to your direction.
u can do it with any of the car types...
(I find RWD cars easier though)

Re: Need for Speed: Carbon
I really hate drift and that is why I do really love NFS: Most Wanted.
In NFSC, there is no drag race. That is my favorite type of race, what I don't like is the scripted blocking of the way of the neutral cars.

Re: Need for Speed: Carbon
I hate drag races - zero skill involved.
Drifting, on the other hand, is an art; albeit a pointless one. RWD cars are indeed easier to drift as with a constant 4WD you need to steer into the corner all the time. Variable 4WD (such as the Skyline) is a little easier.
There are no "tricks", it's just balance. Throw the car around a bit on the straight; get it sideways, then chuck it into the corner and balance the throttle and brake to keep it sliding. Put on the opposite lock as you come out of the corner.

Re: Need for Speed: Carbon
I tried to use fully setup Mazda Speed 3 and it is too fast for drifting.
It is too hard to balance/control.
I'll try your suggestions.
I love cars (race cars) but I don't have enough knowledge in vehicles physics.
I'm just using my instincts.

Ok, I'll try to drive it in manual.
I'm using automatic because I'm too lazy to do it unlike in NFSMW.

Re: Need for Speed: Carbon
The gears shouldn't really matter as I always used automatic. However using a manual may make it easier to cause the drift by leaving it in a relatively low gear
